WANT TO VOLUNTEER?

We are always in search of volunteers, who allow us to serve dozens of families each month. Most positions don’t require any special experience and include help needed in the following areas (see detailed descriptions for each area below):

  • Family Intake 
  • Warehouse
  • Office Work
  • Office Cleaning
  • Truck Drivers
  • Delivery Assistants
  • Truck Maintenance


If you would like to volunteer, email Frank Downes at director@rf4f.org to receive an application and schedule a time for you to come in and learn more. Starred duties * can be performed during office hours at the volunteers’ convenience in one- or two-hour shifts (or longer) on Mondays through Thursdays between 9 am and 5 pm and Saturdays between 9 am and noon.

FAMILY INTAKE

Our intake volunteers work directly with clients on a “by appointment” basis on Monday through Thursday mornings, and occasionally afternoons or Saturday mornings.

Duties include:

  • Determining client needs through the interview process
  • Filling out required forms
  • Assisting clients in choosing household items
  • Recording items
  • Scheduling delivery

WAREHOUSE

Light Work duties*: Sorting and stocking linens and kitchen items (towels, sheets, pots and pans, plates, silverware, etc.)

Heavy Work duties: Stocking furniture that has arrived from donors and loading the truck on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.

OFFICE WORK

Our office volunteers help us manage the paperwork that accompanies services like ours.

Duties include:

  • Answering phone
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Filling Paperwork
  • Data Entry
  • Assisting with Various Mailings

OFFICE CLEANING

This act of service creates a clean and welcoming environment for our clients and volunteers.

Duties include:

  • Dusting
  • Vacuuming
  • Watering plants
  • Removing trash
  • Cleaning Bathrooms
  •

TRUCK DRIVERS

Furniture delivery is one of our biggest areas of need. We are seeking strong, healthy individuals willing to load and unload furniture. This also includes picking up donations from members of the community.
Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good driving record
  • Physical ability to lift and move furniture
    •  

* We are scheduling pickups of furniture on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 10 am and noon, and on Tuesdays between 4:30 and 6:30 pm.

DELIVERY ASSISTANT

Volunteers are also needed to ride along and assist with delivery and pickups on the same days and times as the drivers.
Requirement:

  • The physical ability to lift and move furniture

TRUCK MAINTENANCE

The frequent trips around the community take their toll on our delivery trucks. This means they often need a little TLC. The cost of labor can be expensive! If you have mechanical skills that you are willing to lend on an “as-needed” basis, please let us know!
